Victoria Lake Vacation Homes is a faith-based summer cottage community located in the Kawartha Lakes area. The site is located on a unique and largely unknown area of Central Ontario called the Carden Alvar Plain. The "alvar" is a landscape that features shallow limestone bedrock covered with little or no soil supporting unique plants specific to that environment. These alvars are globally threatened and are extremely important birding areas.
It was essential to maintain the integrity of the landscape by utilizing a native palette of trees, shrubs and wildflowers. Rock obtained from the site for servicing and amenities was used to help shape outdoor spaces and create privacy. The raised grades also provided soil pockets for larger trees to enhance the parkettes and open spaces and community fabric.
